American Masters Sings the Blues is a tribute to the blues and the blues artists that have inspired generations.  With its first Volume, AMSTB features Blues greats - Bobby Lewis, Pookie Hudson and Lewis Lymon.  These legendary artists are backed by The Blues Burners, the backing band of countless blues and rock legends.

Performed by the late Charlie Thomas & The Blues Burners, “I Hear You Knocking” is a version of the 1955 Smiley Lewis classic written by Dave Bartholomew and Pearl King. The Charlie Thomas offering features added vocals by the rising blues star, Eric B. Turner, who was hand-picked by the producers of AMSTB for his soulful ability to embody the spirit of the song.

This new release reunites two of the great artists of the Drifters’ era, Charlie Thomas and legendary songwriter, Doc Pomus. Doc, who left this world in 1991 wrote many songs for the Drifters including, “Save the Last Dance for Me”, “This Magic Moment” and also penned Charlies’ famous lead on “Sweets for My Sweet”.
